It's never a bad time for a cookie. At least that's what I think. I love cookies and making them with my kids makes them taste even better. That's why I put together 30 classic cookie recipes that you can teach your children. In my family, everything seems to happen in the kitchen. Ever since I was a little girl so many of my best memories are in the kitchen, starting with my mother and my grandfather teaching me how to cook. This isn't just a cookie cookbook, it's about family. It's about those hours you spend together, doing and creating. I enjoyed it when I was just a little one and now that I am the mom I love teaching my kids even more.

This cookbook is a wonderful mix of very special cookies with plenty of easy to understand instructions plus lots of clear photographs to help illustrate the process of going from recipe to finished cookies.There is a good introductory section of the book to review some important basics of equipment and ingredients for successful cookie baking. At the end of the book, there is a handy conversion table and a list of pantry items common to cookie baking.
There are several varieties of filled "whoopee" and sandwich style cookies, crinkles, thumbprint, sugar, refrigerator style cookies, and the old stand by chocolate chip cookies and many more. The one flavor that caught my eye was the Cinnamon Roll Cookie that mimicked, you guessed it, cinnamon rolls complete with frosting.
Another worth drooling over is called the Best Little Cookie Ever which is more complicated to make than most other cookies since it is dipped in melted caramel and rolled in chopped nuts. Luckily there are extra photographs showing each step for this one.
Many of these cookies would be too complicated to make with younger children, although older kids and teens could be helpful in the mixing and baking processes. Some of these recipes might even intimidate less experienced bakers, but they are all worth trying. How else can a beginner hope to become better unless they try?

I have many cookbooks in my pantry and I’m happy to have Cookies At Home join my collection. I was elated that someone took the time to make a cookie cookbook filled with classic and traditional recipes that have been well thought out and well executed. I make gingerbread cookies with my grandchildren every holiday season and am excited to try the recipe in this cookbook. However, I know one of my grandchildren will talk me into the sugar cookies!
