Small town life, big academic egos, corruption, revenge, and Spam musubis! The Musubi Murder is the first campus crime novel set in Hawaii, and the perfect gift for mystery lovers, Hawaii expatriates, disillusioned academics, and anyone who fancies Spam (the meat). Renowned Hawaii-born voice-over artist Nicole Gose brings her spot-on vocal characterizations and impeccable comic timing to this reading.

The Musubi Murder (Audible Audio Edition) Nicole Gose Frankie Bow Books

Very enjoyable mystery. Loved the characterizations and the humor. The ending was a problem for me. I realize it was supposed to be darkly humorous but it didn't work for me. There was an easy way around this [MILD SPOILER FOLLOWS] by flipping around two suspects, and having the other one be the guilty party, which would have given the end a little twist also, but for whatever reason the author decided not to. In my opinion it was a flaw that affects later books in the series because of the continuing cast. Maybe she could revise this one and repub it down the road.
That said, I plan to get the whole series and hope Frankie keeps 'em coming!

The Musubi Murder (Audible Audio Edition) Nicole Gose Frankie Bow Books Reviews

I read the first book in this series, and enjoyed reading the 2nd one. Very entertaining.
Good
Clever and witty tale of dysfunctional academia in a small town.
I've now read about five of the Professor Molly books! You will have fun getting to know her and her friends Emma and Pat. Murder seems to follow her! Stay tuned!
Laugh out loud funny for anyone who's ever worked in higher ed. Good mystery with unique characters set in small town Hawaii. Adding the rest to my To be Read list !
This is a witty and delightful mystery. Professor Molly Barda is an engaging protagonist, and her sidekicks Emma and Patrick are wonderful as well. Love the Hawaiian setting/culture as well as the realistic (not to mention hilarious) depictions of academia. I loved this so much, I immediately bought the whole series.
As mysteries set in Hawaii go, most go badly. They are really romances, chick lit, too twee and cozy, or just badly written. This book is a happy exception! The university setting is spot-on snarky, the main characters are appealing, the Hilo local atmosphere is well done. I look forward to many more books from Frankie Bow!
